1&1 – Domain

1 and 1 Domain Review

Domain registration companies sell Internet addresses (aka domains). Some domain registrars are solely involved with the provision and sale of domain names; others offer additional services such as web hosting. But with so many options of domain registration companies to buy your domain name from, finding the best one can be overwhelming. So, we’ll tell you what to look for and how to pick the best domain name registrar to fit your needs.

1and1 does offer a plethora of different domain names to purchase.  There are 650+ domain extensions that you can buy! I can say they do offer more than most registrars. Certainly, you’re going to be able to find something that you want to your website with 1and1.

1 and 1 Domain Features

  • There is a 7 step process in order to transfer your domain names away from 1and1
  • You can always make your domain names private with 1and1.  The first year you buy your domain you do get privacy protection.  However, after the first year, it is no longer free.
  • 1 and 1 offer .com domain names for $.99 for the first year. The price does go up to $14.99 each year after that
  • They are one of the largest domain registrars. All their products are integrated, which is an advantage for many people

Conclusion

Normally, webmasters like to register their domain names with the same company that they purchase their web hosting with. We prefer to purchase my domain names through known registrars like NameCheap and Godaddy then host them with other hosting companies. Often times you get a free domain for a year or sometimes for the life of your account if you choose them as your web hosting provider. You do get a free domain name whenever you sign up with 1and1’s web hosting plans, which I do like.
